I always read your columns with great interested and this one too.
May I say that the beauty of our high mountains and places like K2, Nanga Parbat, Babusar TOP, Fairy Meadows, Lake Saif ul Malook, lies in its adventurous reach.
I was once discussing with an American tourist about no proper roads to these places and he said: “For God’s sake, do not make the metal road, or there will be no charm left in these places.”
And you know that for achieving Allah’s favor, bounties and Jannah, a true Muslim has to pray for his whole life and to walk on the toughest paths; which Allah has directed us in the Qura’an.
Now, as for minting money out of tourism, we lack in many ways. We cannot fulfill the requirements of the western tourist; which they find in similar places in other countries, like wine, dancing, discos and you name it.
Even then before 9/11 we were having quite a good earnings through tourism and all we needed that time was good quality hotels and amenities.
Unfortunately, 9/11 has changed everything and left us alone in a shameful manner in the world community.
