Pakistan’s politics is very tricky. You and I may be in modern times but at least half of the 180-200million Pakistanis are still in a time warp. Not only PML-N but PPP is also by choice stuck in the colonial past because this is the easiest way to rule. Hence Pakistan has made absolutely no progress in 65 years. We might as well have had the British ruling us … all that has changed is the faces. The British transported the wealth of this country to UK and our leaders are only aim to win election is to have their hand on the national wealth and transfer it abroad!!!
The problem with the Sharif Brothers is that they have been weighed down by their allegiance and loyalty to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Hence their policy and outlook has been very similar to Zardari. I think they have kissed goodbye to their chances of winning an election unless the Saudis and US come to their rescue. But if both those countries can have their missions accomplished by Zardari then why would they want Nawaz Sharif?? Pakistan has a long way and many reforms before it can have meaningful elections. 50-60% of the electorate is bonded and captive subjects who cannot vote freely and another 25-30% is corrupt by the Pulao and Kormas at the voting booths!!!! That leaves only 10% of the population who understand the meaning of democracy and sadly that is not enough to bring about the sort of revolutionary reforms required. I think even Imran Khan is beginning to realize these facts. Our youth whom he pins his hopes on are really not the do or die youth the 60’s and 70’s who stood up for what they believed in. Pakistani youth is a McDonald eating Indian Movie crazy young person who’s aim is to “GO ABROAD”!!!
LEADERSHIP IN PAKISTAN WILL CHANGE ONCE THE AMERICANS AND TO SOME EXTENT THE SAUDI ROYAL FAMILY HAVE FULFILLED THEIR OBJECTIVE…. ie TAME AFGHANISTAN & DECIMATE SAUDI DISSIDENT GROUPS. Till such time Pakistan might as well have a GORILLAS as PM and President and it won’t matter!!!!
