Well said Mr Chaudry… But the white people have been through all the crime and squalor. What you see is the result of immense investment in Education, Health, Sanitation,Housing and Social services in the western countries. Otherwise if you look at Victorian and Edwardian times in UK then the crime was rife and poverty and deprivation was at its extreme.. Over crowding, poor housing contributed to Tuberculosis and other communicable diseases. No wonder more than half of the white people are settled in the colonies. Pakistan is still stuck in the Victorian times!! It will require immense effort and investment to pull people out of the poverty and deprivation. It is not that Pakistan cannot afford to bring about the changes but it is the ill will of the rulers and the elite like yourselves that is preventing the reforms.First and foremost the Pakistani Ruling and Elite classes need to bring about drastic changes to their attitudes. You have to install an able well meaning Government with not only a 5 year but a 100 year future plan as a national policy and stick to that plan come rain or shine or any stupidolitical parties rule. We have seen no investment and nothing concrete as far as the people are concerned. Wealth of this land is still being pilfered at the same rate as in Colonial times if not more… Our leaders ave enriched themselves beyond their wildest dreams while the ordinary people are deprived of the basic amenities of life!! French dealt with the inequality during the nineteenth century… Pakistan’s ruling classes need to take heed and take serious steps to bring in reforms and set this land towards modern development. Who says it cannot be done… It needs vision, sincerity and tenacity and even in one generation you will be able to see the fruits of the reforms.
My namesake and my sentiments too!! I have expressed these views endlessly and I feel like the needle is stuck on a broken record!! Is there anyone amidst the media in Pakistan who dare speak out against the ruling classes?? Pakistan will continue to rot as long the people will let the Colonial Rule continue. I agree with you Dr. Qureshi. The likes of Mr Javed Chaudry and his friends in the media. need to use the power of their pen and their influence to bring about the badly needed reforms.
